moMossberg 500 Chokes
I have a Mosseberg 500 pump. What choke should I be using for ducks and geese? I am shooting Nitro-Steels #4. I have a full choke in it right now and it says "steel shot". I went to a dealer and he told me to shoot a modified choke and tryed to sell me one. When I questioned him why it said lead only, he said he did not know and it didn't matter if i shot steel out of it. I did't buy the choke. What do you experts recomend me doing? Wher can I get one?

DO NOT use steel shot in a choke that says "lead only". A full is good for longer ranges, for closer in a mod would be good. Larger shot will pattern more tightly than smaller shot. Wal-Mart sells the choke you need for about $16 here in Colorado.
I too have a Mossy 500, pretty basic, but works real well.

Well, I like a mod for MOST situations, I go to a place within 5 miles of my home where it is all pass shooting, generally at greater distances (like 35-45 yds), so I use a full there. Otherwise, if I am over decoys or hunting at my buddies spot (20 yard fly-overs) I use a mod. Got another Canadian today, despite the skybsuters.
