Call Advantages???
What are some of the advantages of a single reed (mallard) over a double reed and vice versa?
Which one do you find yourself most comfortable/confident with? If you had to choose, which would it be? |
RE: Call Advantages???
For hunting...I could do with either...a double reed is more forgiving...but a single has better tonal range.... I carry both...use the single for open water and the double for "close in" work.

RE: Call Advantages???
i agree with gekko 100% .... on big water or wide open areas ya can use the single to catch their attention and then work em in with the double .... just keep in mind when working late season birds ... that alot of times ya need to tone down the callin as far as volume ... but each flock is different .... gotta watch the birds and see how they respond

RE: Call Advantages???
i like a single reed for open water too.
but i also like a single for timber, look around and you can find a single reed thats toned down for timber hunting. i tend to have better luck with a single reed not sticking as much as a double. were from kentucky and we like it that way |
