12ga extended choke question?

I was thinking about getting an extended choke for goose hunting and I want to be able to shoot between 30 and 45 yards. I use a 3.5" 12 ga with 3.5" hevi-shot #2s and BB, and 3.5" BB steel at 1550fps.

I was wondering if a modified or an improved modified would be better for this range? or would the improved modified be for further than 40 yards?

I was also wondering what company choke tubes everyone likes or dislikes.

Thank you for your help.

Check out Trulock chokes, they make a good extended choke with lifetime warranty and aren't as expensive as many others. I have a mod on my 870 and it patterns very well. For the longer range you might want to try the imp-mod. My Trulock mod shot similar in density to the factory choke but with much more consistent pellet spread. Basically there weren't as many holes or clumps of pellets.

Check out Sportsmans guide, only $26. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=71275

I use briley's and would highly recommend them...I'd be willing to bet that a modified choke would be what you're after, or at least real close, pattern your gun, but I think that's where I'd start.

I'm with Jolle. I've been using Trulock chokes for a couple of years now and I find that they're every bit the quality of Briley. There also less expensive. However, their Waterfowl chokes are made in full choke constrictions for use with steel, but your going to pay for them.

For the loads and ranges you want try a Briley Light-mod this is what I use out of my 870

I like the Briley chokes and also think a modified is probably going to do what you are asking it to. I shoot the improved modified and it holds a really nice pattern with 3's at 40 yards.
