Default Boat safety

Guys I just was wondering if it would be safe to hunt out of a 12foot rowboat on some back water bays off of the long island shores. I probably would have to cross some pretty big open areas of water to get into some channels that would be safter to travel on.. Would it be smarter to hunt small bodies of water upstate this year and get a bigger boat next year.... Just seems to me a few ducks arent worth my life..

Haven't been on this site long but, to me it sounds a little iffy to me. If you don't get an answer to your question by someone with onsite knowledge of your area and hunting / weather conditions in regards to your boat, I would suggest you post it on this site:

duck hunters boat page

The fellas on this site took a green rookie like me and taught me how to build two duck hunting boats and now my own set of cork decoys. But what they really have is a heck of alot of knowledge and free advice. They have members in your area.

Hope it helps, and good luck on your season. Be safe.
