Use of kayaks for hunting???

We bought camo kayaks this summer and we are planning on trying to hunt out of them this coming season. What is the best way to do this? Should we go out to the middle of the lake or stay back in the creeks? What should we do to make a blind? How should we setup decoys? We have never hunted from a boat. We have only hunted from the shore. Any info would be helpful.

thanks

keep your gun oiled and keep some spare dry clothes in a waterproof bag. keep your shells and all your other gear in a waterproof bag too. ;)

sorry, i don't have any experience with hunting waterfowl from a kayak.

Can't be that much different than my canoe . I use the canoe for access to places that are to deep, far to much muck for the wade in hunters and to shallow for the big boats . I also pattle creeks and jump shoot .

Does anyone hunt from a kayak or canoe in open water, or is it usually near the shore?

i read a similar question to yours on another forum last year. some people that responded that did hunt out of a kayak themselves made a strong recommendation to tie a small rope around the trigger guard and tie the other end to their jacket, wrist, or boat.

it doesn't answer your question, but it might help.

maybe go to refugeforums.com or duckboats.net and search for "kayak".
