maintaining shotgun in salt/brackish water

This will be my first year hunting salt/brackish water. What do I need to do special to take care of my scattergun?

Thanks

Keeping it oiled real good, and cleaning it as soon as you get back in from the water. Then oil a little heavily before putting it away. Alway keeping an eye out for any salt residue that builds up on the gun.

We have been hunting the coast for about 4 years and it seems no matter what we do, the salt gets to the metal. Make sure not to hold on to the metal for long periods of time. I grip my barrel while sitting in the blind and I now have a rusty hand print there. About 3 years ago, I found gunkote. It is an epoxy paint that you, your gunsmith or gunkote gunsmiths can put on the gun that will withstand hard use in salt water for about 2 seasons. I did it myself for under $50. It is worth it.
