get full camo and a pair of neoprene waders. I started duck hunting with a dozen decoys which are good enough for a beginner. If your going to call the ducks and geese in yourself, I highly suggest you go to a local sportsmans store and find a call and calling tape.. then PRACTICE!

Depends on how much you are able/willing to spend. A guy can get bye with only a very little, but it is much more fun to go first rate from the get go. You can get started with a couple hundred bucks or really get after it and spend thousands. A good catalog from Mack's Prairie Wings or Cabela's can get you pointed in the right direction. In a perfect world we would all start out with 5mm Neoprene waders and Browning 4 in 1 parka and bibs, but a guy can get bye with plain rubber waders and a camo cover suit over cold weather gear you already own. One thing you can't skimp on is Practice. I agree wholeheartedly, get a good call and tape/video and practice, practice, practice. All else is window dressing if you can't get thier attention.

You might want to find someone to go with if you haven't already since you've never waterfowl hunted before. As far as gear for $100-150. A rubber camo rain suit lined with your regular cold weather gear will work just fine, one guy I hunt with that's all he wears, a pair of waders the canvas el cheapos will work fine for starting out I wore a pair of those for 8 years before I resorted to neoprene, and a face mask are a must, can't forget shells 20 guage 4-2 shot and 12 guage 4-BB and a hat for sure. Otherwise you can get 1 dozen decoys at cheapest brand new are $25-30 and all you should need is a dozen to start, trust me when you get into it a little more you'll have more like 6-10 dozen. Calls aren't really a must if your hunting with someone else who does all the calling, but every hunter should learn how to make the basic duck call sounds consistently especially if you go by yourself. Get a cheap primos wench or somthing like that and practice, practice, practice, practice, practice and practice some more. A good way to learn how to call ducks is go out to the marsh and just sit and listen to the ducks and listen to what they do when some more come in to land and the sounds they make and try to imitate those sounds as close as possible. But again practice alot!!!!! Or else talk with seasoned hunters and ask questions don't be afraid to ask questions. I can't guarantee youll get the same answer from everyone you talk to but you'll get the general idea and you can go from there and find out what works best for you and waht doesn't. Another good investment is a quality pair of insulated waterproof gloves especially later season hunting. That's the bare basics for starting out waterfowling. OH!!! Do you have a gun? I figured with the picture you did but I thought I'd ask anyway. I'm gonna shut up now but hopfully this will help you out a little bit. Good shoppin for the hunt.

Nate,
I've got a dozen water keel mallard decoys I'd be willing to part with. Most(if not all)have chords and weights. Some(or most)of them may need to be touched up with some paint, but no holes. Let me know.
