Cross Breed Geese

Is there a cross between a snow and a Canada? I saw some weird looking goose fly through our spread when we were snow goose hunting and it wasn't a blue goose

As far as I know, Canada's will NOT cross with snows. The goose you saw was likely a form of a blue. I shot a blue yesterday that was solid blackish blue. Those birds have so many color variations its sometimes hard to tell if its a blue or not.

RE: Cross Breed Geese

Normally geese raised in the wild will not cross. If they are raised in captivity they will hybridize. Could you please tell what the characteristics of the goose you saw were? I raised wild ducks and geese under a Federal Propagation permit for about 40 years and something is of interest to me. Ducks are much more prone to hybridize in the wild or in captivity. Mallards and Woodies are two of the most likely to do this. I have observed Mallard/Gadwall and Mallard/Pintail also Shoveler/Pintail and Mallard/Woodduck hybrids in the wild. Have never seen goose hybrids in the wild but it is possible.
