how difficult is it to hunt snow geese? also, will they decoy into canada calls and deeks? thanks.

The best way around this part of the country (N.W. Missouri) is to watch the local fields where the geese are feeding. Sometimes, quite often really, they will use the same field for two or three days in a row before moving on to another field. Unless you have a good blind to hunt out of (and about 200 decoys) it will be pretty tough hunting otherwise. I have never had snow geese come into canadian decoys or had them respond very well to canadian calls. Just by driving thru the local wildlife refuge here, you can see that the snows and blues tend to stay seperated from the canada's. Why, I don't know. It has just always been that way.

It is alot funner with decoys though but Richies way works too. I am planning on buying about 690 dekes because around here I could pound em with I had a setup.

Without passion.....Why bother?

Five of us shot 126 the last two days. We only decoyed about 10 percent of them but had a good time both ways. And the 200 dekes didn't compare to the 20,000 bird flocks. Maybe try about 1500 -2000 dekes.

AH those birds dont like to decoy worth well i aint gonna say it. I have had trouble hunting them all last year. You have to have like 2000 snow dekes with like 4 guys calling to get them to decoy to anything.

Well when you are where you need to be when you hunt them is good and this year I had a field they wanted to be where I had set up and all I had was canada dekes and they landed in them by the thousands. But I did have a snow call and you really won't have any luck whatsoever if you call them with honker calls.
