My Shotshells
How would you rate the following for waterfowling:
FIOCCHI 12 Gauge, 3 inch, 1 3/8 oz., #3 shot., steel I asked the same question in the upland bird forum. I want to see if these shells will work for both. Thanks. |
RE: My Shotshells
What kind of speed are you getting with them?
I prefer 1 1/8 ounce, flying at about 1500 fps........ |
RE: My Shotshells
I bought a case of them in 2002 and had such good luck I bought another case of them before our season opener 2003. You don't need much lead when using them either I shot the heads off several ducks the last two seasons. Just get them in over the decoys and put the bead right on their bills and squeeze it off. I was really impressed. Also they were very reasonable in price.

RE: My Shotshells
ARMallardSlayer, I get 1350 fps with them. I noticed that Remington's Hevi-shot Nitro Magnum High Velocity Waterfowl loads go 1450 fps, and they're made of a tungsten-nickel-iron alloy which is 10% denser than lead and 54 % denser than steel. Sounds like a switch might be in order. What do you think, drgildy?

RE: My Shotshells
Spadluigi, I just looked on the box of my Fiocchi steel and speed is 1450fps. also they were much cheaper than hevi-shot. I believe my final cost was about 8.50 a box by the case lot. They sure work great for me.
