hunted the hudson river in NY this morning( near albany). had a great morning, got a mixed bag of blacks, mallards and mergansers. shooting was consistent from sunup to 9am., had 4 "duds" with remington "sportsman steel" 12G 3" #4 steel in my Red Label. Not impressed with that. Is that why they call it sportsman steel? so i only have 1 shot??;)
All in all it was a great morning, also saw 2 Bald eagles checking out our dekes---VERY COOL. And a river otter. And we had donuts. Man, did i mention it was a great morning?

Mergansers !!!!!!! A fish with feathers that makes great fertilizer for the rose bushs.

first merganser makes a good mount as for meat same as garr cook on a pine board in oven for 4 hrs at 350 then throw out meat and eat the pine board

great weekend! i got geese and ducks in to the deeks. saw something that I have never seen before...an albino fox! he walked right in front of me before he knew I was there. Birds just starting to come in here. 2 inchs of rain with wind of 20 + made it very hard to connect yesterday. much better today. report is that there are 575,000 ducks in the puget sound in washington. gonna need more cold weather up there to push them down into my area.
