Red Dot Sight?

I was just preparing my 870 for duck hunting and realized that I hadn' t removed my red-dot sight from turkey season. Does anyone use a dot-sight for waterfowl? I realize the Holosight is marketed for it, but I wasn' t sure for the normal barrel-type dot-sights.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

no sights for waterfowl generally don' t have time to line up a sight on em, reflex shoot works much better

I have been hunting waterfowl for many years (over 50) and this year I bought a new 10 Browning Gold. I put a red Hi Viz sight on it and find I shot better. You may not need a sight but for me it seemed to make me more of follow through on my swing.

I use the Tru-glo strut-stopper fiber sights and generally leave the front sight on all the time no matter what I' m hunting. Generally I never see it, but there are times when I distinctly remember the bright red dot and lining it up on the bird. So, I say it can' t hurt and might help at times.

Yes I have used a bsa red dot for waterfowling and liked it. Everybody made fun of it but I liked it because you didn' t have to put your cheek down on the stock perfectly every time because while wearing a lot of clothes sometimes the gun doesn' t shoulder properly. That was unfortunately also the drawback since my cheek wasn' t tight on the stock I received severe recoil to the face and no longer use this setup but it can be effective.

I like the green ones better.

I left my sights on a couple of years ago after a fall turkey hunt and missed everything that flew by. After I took the sights off I shot much better. I would think it shouldn' t hurt but it did. I think I concentrated more on the sight than using good shooting form and watching the duck, along with follow-through.
