Need some help
 

Okay, so I would like to start waterfowl hunting this year. I have most of the essential equipment. My only problem is that I don't have access toa boat or a dog. That's where I am hoping I can get some help. I have been researching places to hunt in southern Wisconsin, but most of the places I have been finding are lakes that would require a boat and or a dog. I don't want anyone to give away their secret spot, but I was hoping that someone could help steer me in the right direction.

You could try rivers that run through public land. Then you should be able to get away with waders. I have a set of neoprene waders and have been nice and toasty standing in the river in January.

Called "puddle jumping" - find smaller bodies of water that hold ducks.


Sneak up on them and shoot them as they get up.


Works best with more people from different angles.


Of course, not everyone gets a shot at every water hole, depending on which way they turn.

I hunt rivers and small lakes so I just bought a cheap canoe. I can carry it in and then just throw a camo net over it till I need it.
My lab is too old now to retrieve and no boat and no dog limits you to places shallow enough to wade. That really bites.

Choice 1 : Get and train a good duck dog.
Choice 2 : Rod & Reel with a big ol' weighted treble hook -- then don't shoot any birds that are farther out than you can cast.
