Ducks lightin wide

Hello all,

While I was out on opener here in SD [8D] I ran into a few problems with the ducks. They were working pretty well, but when they' d come in for that last time to land, they' d hover over the dekes a little bit then bank off and land about 20-30 yards away from the dekes [:@] I had them very spread out, with small groups like ducks do early on, and I was somewhat close to shore(max. decoy about 30 yards). A friend of mine said his ducks exhibited the same behavior. Thanks much! ;)

Try riggin up your own jerk chord and giving it a couple little jerks to get some movement in your spread. That' s what worked for me when I had this problem 2 years ago. Since I' m a firm beliver in spread movement adn that' s sems to be what ducks like to see also. Just try experimenting with other things of that sort it' s worth a shot.

did you leave a landing zone that they could hit going into the wind that put them in your range?? I like to set a U shape or an L with small groups like you said. This way I have a highly visible landing zone for them.

I they were hovering over the dekes, that was the time to pull the trigger. Your furtherest decoy should be within your personal range.

We use either two groups leaving them a place between to land or a J-hook..........

If I could have them all hovering over my dekes, they would all surely die.

Can I hunt with you?:D
