need help goose calling
 
i started goose hunting about 3yrs ago and everything that i do has been self taught. and the only thing i feel i need to make better is my calling. i have bought dvds and cds for when i am driving and i just cant get my calls to sound right. just looking for any advice. thanks for the help

I am not really sure you are getting an accurate evaluation of your calling when done inside your vehicle.
Calls sound a lot different on the outdoors....
If you can borrow a video or sound recorder try to record while you mimic the sound while you are beside the geese somewhere outside in a park or a friends farm where geese are frequent.
When you hear both you and the geese on the playback on the same sound track you should have a better evaluation on how your call actually sounds compared to the geese. It doesn't have to sound very close or exact, but the rhythm should be close.
The important thing is keep your welcoming call just that and not to sound like when they are sounding the Alarm.....

your call may not be tuned to its fullest capability. i was just messing with mine the other day and i got to to sound 1000000x better by moving the reed back just a little bit. not sure if this is your problem but its worth a shot.

What calls are you using ? Are you competing with other hunters ?

Remember that no two geese sound exactly alike, so goose calls do not need to sound exactly like you (or some expert) thinks they should sound. The main thing is is to use a call with the right tone, and use the proper timing of the call, along with using the right goose vocalization to get the geese to do what you want.
