beretta questions
 

I think i'm gonna go put a Beretta 3901 on lay away. So my question is what do you do for break in? I know they say shoot heavy loads, but i didn't know if that was jus for inertia driven guns, since the beretta is gas i was wondering if it makes a difference. I can't wait to get it! The only down side is that it doesn't come with the semi hump back like my dads 1992 model 390. But o well hope i have good luck with it and it lasts since it'll be my gun for everything(deer,duck,geese,rabbit,upland birds,dove etc) my dad has had his new since 1992 and thats the last shotgun he has bought. but anyways break in?

I have had a 303, 390, and a 391 over the years. They were all great guns. I'm not sure that I ever heard of a break in period for the guns, or what to do, but I can give you a little advice. Mine were great guns, and they would cycle any kind of ammunition I loaded into them IF I kept them clean and well oiled. Being gas operated means that when the gas port into the loading/ejection mechanism gets some carbon build-up in it it will become less effective. I always cleaned the guns after 300 or so rounds because around 400 they would stop cycling light loads. Just something that I though I might pass on. Enjoy! They are great guns!

Shoot some heavy loads (I used/patterned turkey loads) to break-in your 391, so it can cycle the lightest loads well.

Best thing you can do is clean the fool out of it as soon as you get it home.

They usually pack those guns full of oil and cosmoline and other stuff you don't want in there. Get some simple green and dilute it with water and completely disassemble the gun and give her a good bath to get all that mess out of the gas system and especially they barrel. If you do it right the first time, you should never have an issue with it... but as soon as you shoot it... a lot of that crap will get baked on and baked in and it'll take a lot of work to undo it.
