Pie-billed Grebe. Looks like to me. I think they are protected, and illegal to kill.

That species is not even in my DNR Book. If that is the case, clearly naturally not in Minnesota. Anyone else's thoughts?

PBG's are found in Minnesota. We used to get them around us from time to time where I hunted south of Grand Rapids.

I totally believe there found in Minnesota, I'm just saying I've never seen them in our DNR Book. What is Listed follows: Mallard, Black Duck, Gadwall, Wood Duck. Pintail, Merganser, Scaup, Ringneck, Canvasback, Redhead, coots, and several geese. I just looked this up on Google and the feet look similar.

This thing was taken three years ago by a friend, I would of thought he knew what he was doing since he's been hunting since he was 11. I just started hunting this year but I will run this by him. Also, i'm going to check in with the MN DNR about this bird too. Thanks Sconnyhunter!
