Should I run them and run the battery all the way down and then recharge or just keep after them?

I charge mine after every use. Even if only used a short time. I bought a charger that tells me when the battery is fully charged. You'd be surprised how long it takes to charge to full if the battery is run low or out of a charge.
I also charge them once in a while in the off season.
