duck boats
Does anyone have any info on mud motors and boats? What are the advantages of each brand? And any info on marsh rats or otter outdoors final attack? Post pics if you are a owner of any of these boats!

Try www.Gatorboats.com They have a forum there that you can ask those questions. Good site for duckboats.

I have looked into that but I don't think that I would want to o through the trouble of building one with fiberglass and all that. I probably wouldn't trust a boat I made either :happy0157:

Mudbuddy is hard to beat!!!
I have a 1754 Grizzlly tracker with a 35 hp hyper drive on it. I guide duck hunts and have hunted myself with 4 hunters in it no problem. It has plenty of power and will run in almost nothing. Before this boat I had a 1542 Seark Duckhawk with a 13 hp mudbuddy on it. Great boat and motor. I do enjoy the short shaft much more than the long tail though. Good luck.

duck boats
Nice wide stable platforms to hunt from. Good manners when underway. Unless you have an idiot trying to show off when driving you should have a nice trip.

I've got a 1436 flatbottom jon with a 13 horse mudmotor on it. Top speed with just myselfl, gear and dog is about 12 mph. Add another guy and it's about 9 mph. It's pretty easy to hide the boat, and move it around because the boat and motor weigh around 150 lbs each. In choppy water, it can be a bit scary at times. When there are whitecaps, I don't even go out in it. The boat and trailer together were around $1000, now it's more like $1300. Alumacraft is the brand.

Otter Outdoor
I wouldn't waste your time with the Otter Final Attack or the Ocean Kayak hunting boat, I use a Michicraft Canoe it's lighter, faster, carrys more, and it is very stable.

What's up with all these funny posts like the above 2. They have just one post to their name, and it seems like some computer generated the answer.

Mud Boats
Making one at home out of fiberglass is easy as can be and cheaper then buying one. We built three in a week one for each of us and one for a friend... the cost for the wood, fiberglass, resin, ect... came out to $160 dollars a boat and took hardly no time at all. My husband bought a Rickshaw motor for his for around 700 dollars you dont need a transom and it works really well with the boat. They're layout boats they work great....

Where did you get the plans? I am thinking about building one myself. I currently own an Otter Stealth 2000 and really like it, but kinda want something lower profile that I can hide easier.
Pics would be cool as well. |
