all around semi auto gun?

i am looking for a gun that is good for a 12 year old that hunts ducks, geese, rabbits, quail, pheasant, turkey and all that good stuff that is semi auto. he would like it to be either black or duck camo. his price range is low because he will have to buy it with christmas and birthday money. he has the stoeger m2000 in mind but is trying to find others to choose from so any input or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

does he have a specific gauge in mind?
and have you looked at the model 1100 or the 11-87 both remington and very trust-worthy

Scrap the camo.... save about $50-100 dollars.

The 2000 is prob the way to go unless you pick up an older model 1100. Never know what you might find used. Plenty of Beretta 390s floating around for under $600... and I've been shooting my silver mallard over a decade and its an awesome gun.

I'd advise him to go on and get a 12 gauge, because if he doesn't this year, he'll want one next year. I started on a 12 when I was 11 years old.... heck now I shoot the 20 way more. But if I could only have one... it'd be a 12

I have the Stoeger 2000 and it has been a good gun, had some issued when I first got it as the bolt would not close all the way. Shot it about 250 times over the summer and have yet to have a problem this year.

I have a Stoeger and love it.. Also had a Charles Daly 20 guaged and l liked it alot also... Another option is the Weatherby SA-08.. Just bought one from Academy for 428.00 in a 20 Guage youth stock..

I don't know if he will need a youth stock at that age, but take a look at a Browning Gold or Winchester SX3 or SX2. You should be able to find quite a few at reasonable prices if you shop around a bit.

Take a look at the Bakial MP-153 or if you can still find a Remington SPR-453. There the same gun. Bass Pro used to sell the 453 for $379. Its a 3.5 gas auto. Bought one for my wife. She's 5'4" and 120lbs and can handle it just fine. It shoots any kind of ammo too. except the lightest field loads. As long as you shoot an ounce or more youll be fine.
