What ammo for waterfowl?
 

I am looking for the best waterfowl shells and have found Winchester Supreme waterfowl steel shells. They have excellent reviews and have a good price. I was wondering what others thought what the best shell is. I have already looked at Black Cloud and they have bad reviews for being VERY dirty and people having gun jams after 7 shells! I was going to buy those but.... found something "better". I am okay with shooting 12 gauge 3 inch for ducks and 12 gauge 3 and 1/2 inch BB for geese. Please tell me what you think the best ammo for waterfowl is.

I'm a HUGE Black Cloud fan - never had a problem with gun jamming, but they are a dirty burning shell - but having used other ammo I can see that ducks tend to FOLD with the BC!

My hunting party tried blackcloud for a couple weeks, all of us switched back to Fiochii as soon as we could.... so my response is find the round that fits YOU not the other guys

Black Cloud are deadly, deadly, deadly shells if you use with a light choke.

My standard shells for my Benelli SBE2 are 3.5" Kent #3. Best loads for my Beretta Extrema 2 are 3" Winchester Supremes #2. You just gotta pattern the gun with different shells to see which one shoots best. Shotgun are very much like rifles in the way they prefer different shells and loads.

To determine the best for your gun, buy a box of shells and get about 5 of your buddies to do the same. Take the shells out and pattern your guns and pick which is the best.

I once tried a few boxes of Kent fasteel. I like it, my gun loved it. I like hevi-shot, but it's very expensive for waterfowling.

DO you have a pump or auto loader when you hunted with the BC? The shells mostly jam in pumps. I have a Remington 887 Nitro Mag.

Kent is the way to fly. But I'd buy some of the stuff the Phil Robertson has his name on. Got to love the Duck Commander.

Black Cloud hands down.
