Duck Hunting vs Goose Hunting

At the spots where my friends and I hunt we never seem to have trouble finding geese, but ducks are few and far between. Do ducks prefer a different habitat than geese?

in my experience the only ducks that hang around geese are mallards. Geese tend to stay off real big water, they fly around it but tend not to land in it too often, where diving ducks are only really found on big water. puddlers are more common to see where you find geese but the geese spend so much time in the fields and small ponds that you tend to see only mallards with them. ocasionally geese will land in the marshes and rivers too where you find wood ducks and other puddlers

Where I am at that doesnt happen, so it just what your local habitats are, When i can hunt i can shoot divers, puddle ducks, and geese within minutes of eachother
