Hevi-Shot/ITX SHot Size

Hello All, if this were steel shot I wouldn't even ask the question, but I have a snow goose hunt coming up over dekes, and my plan is to use 1 1/4oz ITX #4 shot out of my double black powder 12 gauge, this stuff is 94% as dense as lead. again I know what I would use if i was shooting Steel, so please do not mention steel, I am new to shooting the tungsten stuff, as from what I have read is you can go back to what you used in lead.
I have to admit, I have never been a fan of large shot, in the lead days, I shot 90% #5 shot and rest was #4 shot.

So What size shot other than steel do you use?

hevishot

We usually use Hevishot #4s for geese out to about 45 yds.

We have also had good success with #4 hevishot on geese.

Trust me
Hevi #4 will kill geese well past any ethical range you should be shooting
And that is 10+ lb Canadain geese

#4 in the ITX ot other simalar type shot
I used #2 on Canadain geese
Since Snows are closer to mallard size

#4 should work

I always liked #6 hevi-shot for ducks and geese.... gotta get out in front and swat that head!

Back in the lead days... it was nickle plated #5s for everything....

use two shot it hammers the geese

Remington Wingmaster HD

I used last year #2 (It's the same as Havi-Shot) and at 45-50 yards dropped a goose like a rock (I could never get goose from one steel shot at that distance). I do not think I would go lower than #4.
Not to try to steer the topic, but we all know that steel shoots tighter then lead: so IC lead=Mod steel. What about Hevi- Shor and Remington HD. Whould I use choke based on lead or steel tightness?
is true IC lead=Mod or even Full Remington HD (hevi-shot)?

I am using 2 modified chokes in my muzzleloading 12gauge, with nice pattern at 40 yards. I would keep witht eh same chokes you use in steel. and better yet, go out and pattern your gun with different chokes and hevi-shot

hevi shot

I like #2 on geese and #4 on ducks. I love the stuff.
I have also used a box of remington HD with remarkable results, but Hevi shot is about the most expensive I will pay for.
