Once a year, if it needs it or not.

I generally completely clean my guns before the season starts, give them a wipe with a good gun oil on the outside after every hunt, then give them a thorough cleaning at the end of the season.

I might clean mine once a year if it's one I shoot more than a few hundred times in a season. Or if one gets wet and/or muddy it gets cleaned. Others will go years between cleanings. But they all stay oiled.

After every hunt. Lot of salt water spray that I don't want to keep on/in the gun.
