Burnt out
I live in So. IL and used to be a huge waterfowl hunter. Were farmers and we flood some fields and hunt alot of private ground and do decent. Our father passed away last year and we just can't get back into it. We have all these kids who hardly hunt and they just talk smack and say that they kill a limit everyday (in there dreams)..I guess what just makes me mad is that while your out busting your tail to get stuff ready in the early season (this applies to deer hunting to), these kids are in bed sleeping or mooching off of there parents and then they say how they kill all these birds but the funny thing is when season comes around they beg you to go. Does anyone else get this problem because it happens to us alot and it gets old if ya know what i mean

Yeah I here you. I run into the same thing alot I am the kinda person that I am not very particular about who I hunt with I take alot of people hunting that I dont really like but its hunting. Now they think they are gonna take my hunting spots come this season while I am out scouting and picking places they want to sneek in early! Where you out in S. Illinois I used to hunt in Newton and Vidallia some beautiful country!!

im down in Pinckneyville..about an hour and a half from newton and about the same from vandalia

Reach down and grab yourself by the balls and quit whining and start hunting. Jeesh, even your signature name is negative. I'm sure your dad would be dissappointed in you for just quitting. If you are going to keep being a whiner on here, let me know so I don't open any more of your post.
Quit whining or quit hunting, they don't go together. Notice my signature line. |
Well its like this,
Theres always going to be some smart ass hot shot or so they think around! its not just your area, its everywhere! Now since you dont have your father you have to pick it up and do the work! What does it matter what anyone else thinks? Your accomplishments are your own and just because you dont get there acknowlegment doesnt mean ****! Do your thing and dont worry about anyone else and when then open there mouths and the trash starts flowing, just remember thats all it is, is trash! Always look at it this way, it could be worse! At least you still have the opportunity to get out and hunt! Theres guys out there who unfortunatly cant! So just be grateful! |
yea luckydog im sure you can say to tough it up and get back out there but when your 22 and your brother is 20 and your left with 4000 ac. of farm ground and you go out and bust your ass not just to farm bu to manage your ground like we do, and then you get these kids who sneak on your ground and have no respect for anyone. I mean we go out and hunt and take all kinds of people hunting and when the authorities dont do **** about the trespassing and just warn them it gets old. Its not easy to always catch people sneaking onto your ground i mean it happens everywhere and it cant be controlled but it gets old. And the name really has nothing about being down on life its just the name we picked out for our hunting team. Were going to make a Deer hunting video this year and sell it. So if anyone wants to swap some hunts let me know

Jump on the internet and see what's going on with some of the 22 year olds in the inner city. They are busting there ass at Mcdonalds. You should be happy your dad left you 4000 acres. It really sucks to lose a loved one but your dad took care of you. Look on the bright side. The only way to hunt from the big city is to join a club and share the property with a bunch of other guys and you still drive a hour and a half just to get to your spot. I shouldn't have busted your balls so hard but I still think you are looking on the bad side instead of the good. If you put your mind to it, you will come up with a plan to keep the butt heads off your property. If they are hunting, it has to be in the daylight and you can keep them off. 4000 acers is big but not that big. You sound like a very lucky person that just hasn't figured out just how lucky you are yet. Sorry you lost your dad, that's a tuff one. Good luck.

I'm also sorry you lost your dad. I treasure every hunt I have with my dad who's 85 this year. However, it sounds like your dad left you and your brother a wonderful gift and opportunity. Don't waste it enjoy it. Find a couple of good guys to share the work with and share a few hunts of coarse. A couple of good guys may even help you police your property. Enjoy the up coming season!!!

I look at this way!
My dad taught me to work hard - and so I did. He took me as did my Grandpa both hunting and fishing. I no longer have either but do have my own grandkids to which I will take and teach what was taught me of our grand outdoors. I will pass the tradition on as both my Dad and Grand dad would want me to do. I understand the tresspassing and how it upsets you - would be the same with me if I owned what you do. When the authroities do nothing - then start calling the Chief or better yet higher authorities. That is not right and they could be arrested. Tesspassing hurts all ethical hunters....... I for one wold love to hunt some flooded fields - I hunt alot on lake Michigan but out there I can't use my dogs....... Good luck this year JW |
