.22 For Duck Hunting

Would a .22 work for ducks on the ground? Because on the farm the only time I see ducks is when they are on the ground. I don't have time for a blind and all that would a .22 bullet to the head work.

Yes, a .22 will work for ducks, especially a head shot. But don't get caught doing it !! It' a Federal offense and you will loose your gun, hunting rights and pay a hefty fine to boot.

Absolutely not!

AMERICUS, Kan. -- An Emporia State University freshman died during the weekend after being shot by someone in a passing vehicle while he was hunting for geese.

Beau Arndt, 18, of Americus, and two friends had placed several dozen goose decoys in a farm field Saturday and were lying in the snow waiting for incoming birds, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Department.

Arndt's companions told police that a pickup truck stopped along a nearby road and fired a rifle shot into the decoys, but hit Arndt instead and then left the scene.

Shooting waterfowl with a rifle is illegal in Kansas, as is shooting from inside a vehicle or onto someone's property without permission.

This is only example of a few in recent years where hunters have been killed by idiots shooting at decoys with rifles. Another involved an Avery Watefowl Pro Staffer killed by a .22 bullet which hit him above the eye. The shooter was also shooting at goose decoys.

Not saying you're an idiot, but this is why it is dangerous.

It was Josh Ledger from Avery's prostaff. It didnt kill him right off either. He was put on life support and his family had to make the final decision. I cant begin to imagine how that must feel. No single projectile weapon may be used in taking wildfowl in the state of NC is how the regs are written.

Don't even think about it.

Why would anyone even think of it? It's not at all what duck hunting is all about, much less being illegal.

If you have time to get on the computer, you have time to set up some decoys and make a little blind.

Why would you even consider doing that.

You should not hunt waterfowl. Pick a differnt sport that does not include equiptment the can kill others. I sure hope you were joking. Pick up a rule book for your state and read it before,,,,,, sorry for the insults, do a little research befor you get into something. At least you are asking. that is a plus.

shooting a duck with a rifle is on the same level as shooting a sitting duck. no one who shoots a sitting duck can call himself a sportsman.
