You know I would have shot it if I wasn't taking a nap back at the cabin.

You're sick, just plain wrong.

Before I even clicked into this thread I knew that is what was coming.

40-50 ducks I shot this year, not one banded.

Ouch.

In all honesty, congratulations on a fine bird!

Shot my first this band this year also after waterfowl hunting for 6 years, and oddly enough it was on a hen mallard as well

Awesome kelleno!

You don't ever hear about bands in SC... as a matter of fact, mallards are also a fine treat down here. I've only heard of one banded duck down here, and that was when my buddy shot a banded woodie on private property.

Great job again.

Every single mallard duck I shot when I lived in SC had a band on it Chris. Like 20-25 birds. Some where SCWA birds (they don't use bands anymore.... clipped dew claws), some were release/plantation chicken mallards that use bands to ID their own birds and see if any get more than two miles from where they were released.

As to shooting banded birds.... more hens get banded because hens are easier to catch.
