new gun turkey/waterfowl
im looking to buy a new 12 gauge for waterfowl and some turkey hunting. my dads friend showed me his gun and told me that i should get that gun. it is a remington 870 express super magnum with the pistol grip and truglow sights. it has a 24 inch barrel. he said that i would probally like this gun best because it kicks less then a gun without the pistol grip and it is more steady. i was wondering if this gun is good for waterfowl as well as turkeys. please reply thankyou.

I am not a fan of the pistol grip either. But the new remingtons come with the supercell recoil pad that helps a lot. I also would go with a 26'' barrell. Personally the 24 is too short for waterfowl. Turkey can really be shot with anything....IMO.

i dont really have a price range. the gun that i listed is 720 $. apparently the pistol grip allows you to shoot faster with 3 1/2 inch shells because it kicks less so you can aim faster. i dont know though because i never hunted waterfowl but i want to start. i would be using it for turkeys too.

i also thought that the 24 inch barrel is too short but it does shoot 3 1/2 inch shells. the person who told me to get this gun said that he was the only person that shot turkeys out of about 5 guys. he shot two and the other guys missed the turkeys because they were too far away. so that made me think that it may be alright for far shots. this gun also has an adjustable choke

Take a look at the Franchi I-12, and the Stoeger 2000. I have a 2000, and my brother has an I-12. They're made by Benelli (if that tells you anything), so they have the inertia system that has made Benelli famous. It really helps with the recoil, I've shot it side by side to 12 gauges that don't have it, with the same load. I bought mine for $450 new, my brother bought his for $700 new. Both have the Max-4 finish.

well if you dont have a price range... benelli M2 or Super Black Eagle II. but if you want something a little cheaper then i agree with Rory and a I-12 or a stoeger M-2000 would be nice guns as well.
