need a new gun for duck season and would like to know what you all think is the best 12 gauge to buy for a reasonable price, and whether a 3.5" isbetter or will a 3" be better?

Pump- Remington 870, or a Beneli Nova

Auto- Stoger 2000

Over Under- Mossberg Silver Reserve

I'd get a 3 1/2 inch, that way you have the option of both. The 3 inch is fine for waterfowl hunting, but why limit yourself.

for the money and for reliability you just can't beat an 870.I went to a Xtrema for recoli reduction but I kept the 870 too.Personally, I don't shoot 3 1/2" except for turkey and pass shooting geese.

Have to agree with the Stoeger model 2000 I have used mine for about 4 seasons and I have dropped in mud, dropped it in the river froze it up and it still works like a charm.

Go with the 870 supermag in synthetic. It is put together better than the Stoeger and the Mossberg. Get a supermag though. You will be able to shoot any size shell. I shoot 3 1/2" in the fields and 3" in timber.
