Case of shells will they work for everything?
 

My brother in law was able to procure me some 2 3/4 BB's. A whole case in fact and he said that I should be able to use them for everything i.e. ducks and geese. Well I was just wondering has anyone out there used BB's as it seems that not many people do. If you do or know some one who does any comments are beneficial.

I use em when I go shoot geese in ar and ga, but down here in fl I shoot 4's all year

that should be fine for geese and big ducks like mallards and woodies but definantaly wouldnt use that on teal, buffle heads, ring necks, or any duck like that

I would pattern them
As there might be some huge holes in the pattern with that few of pellets

Also 1 1/8 oz ? , if somight not be a bad goose load if they pattern
If the old 1 1/4 oz ....................Have him buy a different load IMO
I bought a bunch years back , so slow they didn't break the skin ongeese at 40 yds only 1200 fps if I remember correctly

I am not a big fan of BB's in a 2 3/4" , just not enough pellets unless you choke them tight
Then a close range bird is either missed or tenderized big time

They are new Winchester Xpert High Velocity 1400fps 1 1/8oz. I will be shooting out of a Kick's High Flyer Full. I have yet to pattern them but have good results shooting trap.

IMO, BB is a little too large for ducks. I usually use 2's. If they are out of 2's, I'll go with 3's. The most popular shot size down here is 2.

Yeah, BB is a heavy shot, but BB in 2 3/4 will do fine on ducks.It won't do any more damage than a Black Cloud load. jonch has a good point that there may be some scattered patterning or gapped patterns though, particularly from a high velocity shell with only 1 1/8 oz of shot. They tend to go higher on the powder and lower on the shot load - therefore you have fewer pellets to work with.

if you can get them to throw a decent pattern have at 'em...i have used BB's a lot over the years they do just fine...but if they aren't choked properly the pattern may get a little thin....

We use BBs for divers quite frequently. Especially in the absence of any Kent #1s. They will work fine for you so long as they shoot alright through that full choke.
