RE: Anyone built their own duck boat?
I am not sure on the type of glass. I did tape the seams first. I did a double tape on the inside and out. meening I over laped them. I used 6oz tape ( think) and 4oz cloth on everything else. I used the 3:1 medium FG. took some time to dry on every application.
One thing I may do different next time is not do the sides when I FG the top or bottom. Damn drips.... I would suggest turning it on its side to do the sides. Will add maybe 8-12 hours times 4-6 times (layers at two sides) drying time.
get some pic. up so we can see what you got going...

RE: Anyone built their own duck boat?
The wife is officially pissed. She has lost the carport during the summer for the foreseeable future. I have started the boat build! The rest of the materials should be here by Tuesday. The wife actually asked if it would float since I have never built a boat before. Needless to say, I was a little miffed. I think I will name her the SS Minnow is her honor. At this time most of the wood is cut and I’ll try to figure how I want to cut the transom this weekend and start putting her together.

I have not yet hunted out of it. Just got it together a month ago. It is good for one man. I can transport my dog also, but I dont think he would like sitting in my lap while I am blasting away.

The best thing about a one man boat is I dont have to take anyone else..... They will have to come up with there own transportation... dont get me wrong, I love to hunt with others, It will be nice to not have toworry about them. I still have the 12' to take my son and who ever. I do think if both my brothers had one of these and I build another for my son. This would be the best way to hunt. A small fleet of duck and goose killers.

Round Three......
After some fine tuning, lots of epoxy, and a bit of grunt work, we managed to finish all of the hull today. Next is a lot of sanding, finishing all the custom things, and then a final coat of epoxy to completely waterproof the boat. Then camo paint and a name.
