$800 to spend on a 3 1/2" duck/turkey gun
I just got off the phone with a buddy that has decided he's buying a new shot gun, he turned to me for advice, and I'm turning to you guys for help.
We shoot steel shot at whatever passes by within range over our 3-6 decoy spread, nothing ever lands in the spread. We see alot of mallard, bluebill, woodies, teal, and Canada Geese. My friend is not a huge turkey hunter, but I'll get him out 1-2 times per spring so he wants a gun that will do both. Wanted: suggestions for a new pump or semi chambered for 3 1/2" shells to be used for spring turkey and fall waterfowl. |

I think the 935's are in that price range, no? If so, I've heard a lot of good things about them.

12 Gauge -= I use my Browning Gold hunter ($850 - new)on nice days, and a Remington 870 Super Magnum($350 - new)when it is raining or snowing.
10 Ga - I use a Browning Pump Shotgun. I believe that I paid $550 for it 10 years ago. All nice guns for the money. |

I'd say nix the 3.5" and get a browning silver hunter/stalker for $750.
If you simply MUST have a 3.5".... the 835 is great for turkeys.... the BPS is great for both. The 935 will do also, but you can't shoot light loads with it. |
RE: $800 to spend on a 3 1/2" duck/turkey gun
I shoot a Winchester Super X2 - which you should be able to get in that price range...
Shoots the heavy loads and light loads great - also a great perfomer in nasty conditions... |
RE: $800 to spend on a 3 1/2" duck/turkey gun
I started shooting an 11-87 and have almost stopped using 3.5 for waterfowl, I now just use my 835 Turkey hunting.
The 11-87 sportsman I bought was 600 bucks at dinks. The 835 is a gun that i bought secong hand for 200 bucks, There is 800 well spent dollars, of course the 11-87 will kill a turkey as well, so you can probably put the other 200 towards beer or something. |

Thanks guys, we were at a store yesterday and he shouldered a bunch of them.
Hes trimmed the list down to two different combo packages (all three barrels included). Would you guys rather buy a: Camo Mossberg 535 with 3 barrels for $530 or Black Rem 870 with 3 barrels for $700 ???????? (if prices seem out of whack its cause we're in Canada). |
