Hooded Merganser Drake in the freezer, just havent taken him in yet. I think ill do another standing pose with his neck stretched up. I agree though, two of the prettiest birds IMO. |

Woodies are fun to shoot, nice to look at and even better to eat..
Unfortunatly we only are allow 2 per hunt here in MS.. |
RE: Wood Ducks and mergansers
Posted this picture before, but I guess Ill post it again...
A pair I killed "together" meaning with one shot. So I mounted them, just because I figured what are the odds of ever doing that again. |

RE: Wood Ducks and mergansers
The woody mounted was my first woody and I think I relive that hunt every time I go back to that little creek in the woods.
Christmas Eve morning brought my son , a great friend and myself several geese . We did shoot (1) hooded merganser and (1) red breasted . We did have several flocks of red breasted mergansers come in the dekes and stay a while, dive and entertain for a while. Beautiful birds but as we all know not so great for the table . The mallards started to show so we put ourattention on them . LG |
