Migrotory birds pick up lead pellets when feeding in marshes and the pellets stay in the gizzard to be digested. The lead enters the blood system and the birds die of lead poisoning. Fish normaly don't eat lead weights and the lead used for jig usually are taken out with the hooks when released. It's short but gets to the point.
