A great weekend
 

A fishing freind go a hold of me a few weeks back about a duck and goose hunt he was setting up for Fri afternoon - Sunday AM

As the season is closed localy , I figured it would be fun


Fri AM left for a 3 hour drive south , after 1 hour sleep the night before and 3 the night before

Got there and 5 of us headed for a feild
Set up the decoys andlayout blinds around 1 and fell asleep till they threw dirt at me to get me to to quit snooring

Around 4 the ducks started , but so did the geese
Had ducks landing around us as the geese droped in , many of the ducks landed between and behind the blinds
With 30 or so droping in the decoys RIGHT in front of us
We shot both as fast as we could at point blank range to 20 yds

In the2 min of madness we killed 8 geese and 20 ducks , mainly mallards with 1 Black and several Gadwalls
I hit a Drake at 20' , blew off a wing and the head , but some how only put 1 pellet thru the breast
I got a goosese and 4 ducks


Sat AM we hunted the same feild
No ducks in the AM , but we pulled in 3 small flocks of geese
6 guys and a young man got 14 geese

Sat afternoon we hunted a pond and we all got our 6 ducks
Ended up again with a mix of Mallards , Gadwalls and Blacks
At least 6 of these birds will end up on the wall , I got a perfict black to mount

Sunday AM we hunted another feild , next to the pond
Each flock of geese droped in on the 4th or 5th pass , called our lungs off
Ducks wanted back in the pond , we got a few to make a pass
7 guys and a young man ended up with 15 geese*
I got 2 ducks and 4 others fell for other guys
I had to leave , but the rest of the guys were heading to the pond to get their ducks

*As I drove away , I found a cripple walking along the road
Caught it and droped it off to the guys and then headed out for the 3 hour drive home
