Maine Eider Hunting

Saturday morning 9 people and I woke up at 2:45 andwent down to the coast of Maine to go eider hunting. We split into two groups, five in each. The hunting was slow for my group because we came to the conclusion that the water was too calm for the eiders to be in the bay. The other group that we went with shot like 12 eiders and a few oldsquaw, which is a very slow day up here, most days everyone gets their limit or close to it. My group shot no eiders, we saw a few fundred, but nothing would decoy, no one was really sure why, but the only ducks decoying in were blacks into eider decoys. My group did end up with 7 oldsquaw which is decent, but despite the slow hunting, i took a couple pictures of the beautiful sunrise on the Maine coast. Worth every second...

RE: Maine Eider Hunting

Those are some beautiful pics. I may be moving to Washington sate this year, and plan to try sea duck hunting. I'm pretty sure you can shoot Harlequins up there. That is a duck I have always wanted to put on my wall.
