Wader recommendation
 

So I had a fairly miserable day in the duck boat last Sunday.. my old rubber waders that I thought I'd fixed, leaked into my left foot.. time for some new ones! I'm looking at all the Cabela's waders and what not and youcan get into some pretty good coin. I see a lot of those Redhead waders on ebay for cheapbut that is a crap shoot, something about buying used waders doesn't sound right.

Anybody have a pair with the 5mm neoprene and the 1600 thinsulate boots ? Those look awesome but I'm wondering if you'll cook in them on some of those warmera 40 degree days?

I live in the pacific northwest where our temps are usually in the 30's and 40's with rain and wind.

Cabelas super mag 1600 waders and they are awsome....i wear them almostt in any temp and they are really warm....plus they have extra padding on the butt and shins for breakin ice...

so far so good with my cabelas super mags. ive had 3 pairs of redhead waders first the 99.00, then another finally i bought the 139.00 ones and the crotch leaked. the next day another employee returned his. i dont care about the discount i want stuff that works. leaks etc can be dangerous

my dad and his buddy use the cabelasbrush busters they are tried and true too

I have the cabelas 5mm waders and there are some drawbacks to them. If the temperature is 45 or higher and you have much wading to do you sweat up a storm. Also I have never been a fan of velcro straps for holding them up instead of suspenders. Also the pair I have is a little tall for me (i'm 5' 8") so they don't fit as well as I would like. Now if you have to stand in very cold water huntintg or fishing they are great, but again if you have to hike in a mile to get to you spot in them you think you died! They are tough an more resistent to ice and brush than any waders I have owned. In conclusion make sure you try them on first with the clothes you would be wearing if hunting. Good luck.

Yeah the walking part is a good point.. we have one hunt that requires walking up to 1/2 mile lugging decoys etc... perhaps the 3.5 mm with 1000g of thinsulate would be the way to go.. like the cabela's light mag I think. Thanks for the tips and replies.

LaCrosse works for me. I'm on the 3rd season with the pair I have now. Granted, I'm not hunting much more this season because of a broken wrist, but they've lasted longer than any of my hunting buddies' waders. Down here in Arkansas, I worry more about toughness than warmth in waders.

I like the hodgeman waders. I also really like the Lacrosse.
