haydels dr-85?

I recently purchased a dr-85. I feel like I'm not getting the call to perform correctly. Any suggestions?

Should i be saying vut into the call at a very low volume?

southerncross, I'm not sure how well you call on other calls. If you call well on other calls, it may be that you call is out of tune. If you are new at calling or are just bad at it like i was until here recently, you should get an instructional CD. Someone on here recommended Straight Talk by Buck Gardner. It helped me out big time with single reeds.

The DR-85 is one of the easiest calls to blow. Try growling "hut" instead of "vut". If it doesn't sound well with little effort I'd say you had a bad Haydel call.
