Remington Wingmaster HD
There's a $150 Remington rebate on a case of this stuff putting a case of 12 ga. 3.5" #2s or 4s at $230. What do you recommend for ducks & geese? We've used 4s before and smacked them, but I'm thinking 2s would be a tad better for them big honkers and would be a better compromise...

RE: Remington Wingmaster HD
IMO the #4 load is the best
I use 3" , #4 , 1 3/8 oz load I tested it on Gaint Canadians at 60 yds a few weeks ago With 9 hits in the body and several more thru the wings and neck IMO The #2 load might be better for just geese , if you plan on pass shooting at looooong range I shot a Yote the other night as it atacked a goose decoy It was 75 - 80 yds away and the #4 HD put it down Didn't open the yote up to see how far the shot penatrated I used a few #6 HD loads on ducks Total murder I have 1 guy that hunts geese with me that usesthe 2 3/4" #6 on geese with good results But He picks his shots and lets the geese decoy John |

RE: Remington Wingmaster HD
Why would you want to be shooting geese or ducks at 60 yards?

RE: Remington Wingmaster HD
If he's killing them, why not?
|
RE: Remington Wingmaster HD
Because if you can reach out and kill geese at 60 yards; there is no challenge. I'm trying to understand the enjoyment.

RE: Remington Wingmaster HD
hitting a bird at 60 is a pretty big challenge.

RE: Remington Wingmaster HD
There's no challenge in killing a goose at 60 yards with a shotgun? Last time I went goose hunting I thought it was a pretty good challenge to kill them at 30 yards, let alone 60. Hey, to each his own.

RE: Remington Wingmaster HD
Hitting a quail at 60 yards my hats off, but a canada goose? Give me a break.
