I bought the black Nova for $299.. the camo Nova was another $80.. I spent that money on a call, a sling and some neoprene gloves

See the bold... you made the right choice. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. 870s and Novas are 6 and a 1/2 dozen to each other anyway. Much better choice than the knock-offs.

Keep well in mind that if you are in to cutting cost corners though... you've picked the wrong sport....:D

I usually shoot the mod choke that came with my Nova. I do change to the imp cyl for some of the smaller water that I hunt when all the shots are 25 yards or less. I haven't found the need for a full choke yet.

Oh I've got plenty of expensive sports including elk hunting, deer hunting, skiing, mountain biking and now duck hunting and judging from my die hard hunting buddy, yes Duck hunting with all the decoys, calls, boats, guns, ammoand other assorted gear it will live up to the rest of those sports.. luckily I can go with him and all his stuff.
