2 things

How fastare these loads ?
As speed kills

Lets say for grinns they are 1400 fps

I would say 30 yds
But I would never use them past 25

There is always the golden BB
I have seen a goose fall stone dead from a load of #4 steel from 50 yards
It had 1 #4 in the throat ( non penatrated the chest more than 1/2" )

I have seen to many ducks fall dead 1/4 mile after a guy shot at them to use a load like that

But I do shoot a reload of 1 oz of #4 at 1600 fps
But I still use a max. of 30 yds and try to keep all my shots shorter than 25 yds

Stay within 30 yards and you should be ok. I'm assuming their 1 1/8oz, 1300pfs...Even if 14000fps you should be ok. My Dad uses those loads & #2 and easily shoots ducks dead at 30 yards...

You don't say what kind of 4's. In steel I'd go to 3 or 2 and keep shots 40 yards and under. With 4's in steel I'd be keeping shots to 30 or under.
