Motion Stakes/stakes

I have been looknig at the motion stakes that are for sale and notice that they look quite large in dia. How does one push them into frozen ground? I read about making a big spike or sharpening them but that seems like an invitation to breaking them. I was wondering " How would a cordless drill work for drilling frozen or hard ground?" Has anyone tried it? Could I get some feedback?

I welded a piece of small dia. rebar "handle" on a long lanscape nail.Takes alot less time and don't have to worry about fogetting your battery. ABout 3 good whacks with a 3 lb hammer and you are thu the frost.
