Shotgun Shells

Just wondering if any of you guys have ever taken apart a shotgun shell bought from a store.. i know its dangerous and i don't recommend it, but i always shoot federal's and love em but after a late night i was low on ammo so my buddy let me use a box of his Winchester steel. next morning i couldn't drop a bird and because we all know its never the operators fault(LOL) i took one apart and found the quality of the BB's 2 be poor compared 2 Federal Pellet's Some were like more oval than round, vary in size, and even some were hollow half bb's. maybe its what you payfor compared to the Price, (No offenseTo winchester or anything,i use alot of their products)But whats your two Cents

Let me guess
Expert shells ?
They are my LAST choice
I have patterned them out of several guns
None shot them well , most patterns were poor to realy bad

No 2 guns pattern the same ammo alike
His gun might have loved that load , while your hated it

Pattern any loads out of your gun
Even 2 of the same brand guns with the same choke will pattern different
Switch chokes and they will still pattern different

ya expert shells, they were magnums and there was so many differnt size BB's from like 2-6 i swear and half bb's and tons of hollow ones and then BB's with steel all melted weird on em,dont think thier was a decent one.. i starting reloading steel this year so im gunna try some of those for early goose and see how they pay off.. 3 inch mags but with more BB's than a normal mag for the fact that i have a higher pressure on the wad..Swuack em

I have also had poor luck with experts. If you want to try something other than federal thats not too pricey I would suggest Kent fasteel or Remington Sportsman. Hevi-Shot is by far the best though!

i have never heard anything good about those xpert steel shells. someone described the pellets in another post as "bits of welding scrap"
