What does everyone do with their old decoys? I have a a couple dozen that the paint is starting to peal. Has anyone tried painting them flat black with any success??

I have a couple dozen old decoys. I orderes a basic touch up kit. Painted them. Excluding the heads. And I also ordered a flocking kit. After painting the bodies and flocking the heads. Ducks started committing suicide with my old hand me downs. Great way to get effective decoys for cheap! Just your work has to go into it.

You can go to your local craft store, i.e...Hobby Lobby, and buy acrylic paints to make old decoys new again. I have had good luck doing this in the past. It takes a few minutes, but it is a whole lot cheaper than buying new ones.

just today i went to gander mtn. and baught a paint touchup kit, and painted 2 dozen old henryettans they also had cracks in their chests. to fix the cracks i used low temp. hot glue on the inside and outside till it stuck nicely then put plenty of duct tape on the inside to reinforce them. then i got painting it took about 7 hours to glue tape and paint all of them.

I paint my old decoys up to look like blue bills. Its a good way to add to your diver spread.

You can find touch up kits at most of your large online outdoor stores like Cabelas, or Macks PW.
