Thinking of buying a 11-87 Camo for waterfowl

I am new to the site and would like to say hello. I am in SE Pa. and looking forward to the hunting season this year. I recently got into waterfowl and would like to get a 12 gauge for it. I am really into the Remington 11-87 in mossy oak camo with a 26 inch barrel. Any input on this gun would be great. Along with any other suggestions. Thank you.

Go with the 1100, that is a great gun. 11-87 is a little less durable...... great gun either way.

I agree that the 1100 is a better built gun. The design of the thing was for 2 3/4" shells. Some of the newer Remingtons have been real lemons compared to what they used to make just a few years ago. They now have machines making guns instead of people. Go figure. Still working out the kinks apparenlty.

Most important thing of all is how the gun fits you. You are just going to have to pick up a bunch of guns, swing them a few times, see how they shoulder and what not. Thats going to be the determining factor.

As far as value goes, the Stoeger 2000 is a good gun for the money. As is the Beretta 3901. I shoot a Beretta 390 Silver Mallard, which can be picked up used in great shape for under $600.

Thanks for the great help...but what about the mossberg 935? its a 3 1/2 chamber. I just do not want to spend over 700 dollars.

You need a 3.5" shell to kill a duck about like you need a Corvette to go get groceries. All they do is kick more, make more noise, cost more, and dang near all I have been around don't pattern near as good with long shells as they do with 3" or 2 3/4". More to go wrong in a semi with a long action stroke.

ok I have noticed the Benelli Nova 12g Pump. I really like this gun and have heard only great things about Benelli. I dont mind using a pump but is that the best choice for waterfowl?

Can be. I shot a pump for years and never had any problems other than accuracy issues (in fact, I seem to still have relapses of those problems, espeically on floating singles when everyone is watching me whiff three times).

Costs a little less, and the Nova is very easy to break down and clean. Just make sure you don't let the inside metal rust... salt water can be a real killer on them very fast.

There again, swing'em for yourself. You'll know the right one when you find it!
