What else to add to my spread?

I am new to the sport and looking for some input. Currently I just bought a dozen of GHG hot buy decoys and I am looking to add a lot more decoys. I bought the GHG hot buys basically because of the price and I probably wont get out more than 4 or 5 days each season.

What else should I add? I going to get at least another dozen decoys, some duck butts and maybe a mechanical duck, not sure which mechanical to get.

Thanks,

I purchased a couple Doz hot buy mallards myself. For the rest of my spread, I just bought a few Doz, of the most common species that I see here. I recommend that you figure out how many deeks you want, (I use 5 Doz) and then divide them up by the most plentiful ducks in your area. From my experience you can't go wrong with any GHG product. I don't like the snap lock keels, but the detail of the overall deek is second to none for a mass produced decoy line at an reasonably affordable price.

sounds like big water to me . I don't think you can wrong with a dozen or 2 coots . a jerk line deek will get almost as many hits a "swimmer" I have a wobble butt , Ididn't see the results I had hoped for but it was a very slow season for me and the birds just weren't there.

I'd put any of the following:
Teal (Green or Blue winged)
Wood Ducks
Pintails
Black Ducks
Bluebills

What part of the state are you going to be hunting in?

I've never hunted ducks in NYC, but in Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas, one of my best duck decoys is a handful of Canada geese! I put ducks on the left and ducks on the right and a handful of bigfoot canadian floaters in my landing zone. Then I put some Luckyducks that look like they are coming into my landing zone. I also do not hesitate to use my goose call to get their attention. You won't read this in any of your "How To Kill Ducks" books, but it is very very effective!:)
