What do you recomend for a 10 yr old shooting a pump 20 gage. Seems like many people like a IMP. cyclinder for choke, and just courious on the size and shot size. I have picked up a box of 3" No. 2's, I just think it is going to bang on him too much. He only weighs about 70 pounds and 2 3/4 No. 6 rock him back some. I just want to put the best opportunity for the game and him in his hands.

I set my girlfriend up shooting 3" #4's. This load worked well over decoys. I would not reccomend shooting goose witha 20ga, you will end up with a lot of cripples.
Personally i dont think there is a lighter load for your son. That 20ga kicks light as it is.

What size heavy shot? #2's ? I think most of our shooting will be over deeks out of a boat. I have not secured farm land yet, I am still working on that.
Thanks so much for your input.
I will most likely be trailing his shot, I hope to keep crippling to a minimum.

I'm with whitehair 1oz 3's in a modified , I whacked a fair number of ducks with that . Believe it or not a 1oz in a 12 is a much lighter recoiling load.IMO .

You are on the right path! I like 3's or 4's. And IMP. CYL. Will do just fine. I credit being able to shoot so well today from my experiences with my 410 and 20 gauge. I still love hunting ducks with a 20.

Like everyone else I would recommend #4. If your hunting over a tight spread, you could use as small as #6, BUT MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU DO, USE HIGH DENSITY!
