Does anyone have experience with this stuff? I am trying to figure out what I want to buy for duck season and this stuff looked good. It is also really cheap compared to some of the other stuff out there. One more thing I just got my Macks PW catalog in the mail and it said on August 1 there was a rebate of $150 on wingmaster hd when i bought ten boxes. Did I read that right? Half price for a case of wingmaster. Any help would be appreciated.

I am sorry I forgot to ask what choke tube you guys were also using?

Everything depends on how you hunt. With real decoyed birds you don't need anything fancy. Improved cylinder with a decent steel load will do. If you are not shooting decoyed birds than get a 10ga with the most expensive shells you can find, but the guy shooting decoyed birds with a 20ga 2shot will kill more birds!!! The gun and the shells are not the answer...knowing how to call and your spread and the location is the answer!JMHO Good luck!

try Federals new load Black Cloud, I patterned some the other day. At 40 yards there wasnt a hole even a green wing teal could get through. I am so confindent in it I am buying a case of it, plus it is cheaper than Hevi-Steel. I use a briley goose choke, I have also heard a pattern master is a good choke. If you buy a pattern master choke dont use black cloud, black cloud use a flight control wad that it uses the pm neglects any advantage that the wad might have.

Thanks for the info. I am going to be hunting decoyed birds. So I am going to look into a pattern Master and Kent Fasteel. That will be cheaper than hevi-shot plus a 150 more shells in a case.

I used it last year on sea ducks and worked good. I use a Strangler choke tube.

I shoot mainly IC or LM choke tubes. Briley's with extended knurled grips. I'm a believer in longer tubes. I shoot a Hevi-shot as my first shell, backed up by two Hevi-Steel. I have found this combo to be really effective. The places I hunt are smallish, tidal creeks. So while the water you are hunting can be small, you have to stay back in the tree line to be concealed properly, which can lead to decoying shots at 40 yards. Steel isn't hitting on much at that range. I have found that just the little bit of difference with Hevi-steel makes a huge difference. Do make sure to pattern it though, as I have an 870 with Thin-Wall chokes that won't shoot much of anything other than dove loads and buckshot well.

By the way, I use the #4 Hevi-steel, in 3".

I am shooting a 870 to that is why I am wondering about choke tubes. I know I need to buy a different one for this season.

Every gun is different, and shoots different loads diffrently (say that fast).

My 870 is an old Magnum Wingmaster (made about the same time as me). Didn't originally have choke tubes, the Briley Thin-Walls (Invector) are an aftermarket add on.

I have always had good luck with Brileys tubes, as well as Pure Gold's.

The winchester HD is great for decoyed birds if u have them coming into a set . for that i use a full choke
