New Federal Black Cloud

Has anyone been able to pattern the new Federal Black Cloud loads? Have had great sucess in the past with Winchester's Xpert loads. Wondering if anyone's had a chance to try this new one out on a pattern board.
Saw a recent test @ 15 yds with balistic gel but didn't feel 15 yds was a fair test distance.
Just wondering....

I saw an article about federals new load Black Cloud in Wildfowl magazine. According to the article this stuff is supposed to be an incredible new load, with efficent knockdown power from 40-50 yards. Ill see if I can dig up the article but from what i remember this stuff is supposed to be some of the best ammo of the year, but you will be paying a pretty penny for it.

I hear it's supposed to be reasonalby priced but with the increase in ammo prices as of 06/01/07 I am not sure how reasonable that will be. I am going to try to snag a box or two when Bass Pro has their Fall Classic unless I can get some before then. I just want to pattern it vs the brands I've used over the past few seasons.
I'd heard it was supposed to be great at 40 yds + but wanted to read a bit more about it.
If you can find the magazine article I would appreciate the info.

I have only seen it in Cabela's Shooters Supply catalouge, and it didn't give me that much info.

Is it just a normal steel load with a Flite-Control wad? Or is their a mix of steel and some high-density metal thrown in?

Flite Control wads seem to have worked best for me at about 40 yards, but thats with turkey loads and lead on the patterning board. They weren't really worth a hoot for turkeys, but I can see some real potential in them for waterfowl.

Theflight controlwad and a mixture of 40% "fast flightsteel" (hasSaturn like rings)& 60% steel. I couldn't even find anything on their site about different tests. Guess, I'll just have to get a box and hit the pattern boards.

Sounds pretty good but I want to know what kind of pattern it will throw.

Thanks all!

It was on one of the past waterfowl hunting shows last week or over the weekend on the outdoor channel. The manufacturing was explaining how it works and was shooting into the jelly stuff. The wad is suppose to stay with the load for a longer distance to keep it together. It looks like it is going to be an awesome load, but probably expensive.

melsheeba- I think I seen the hunting show your talking about, where they shoot into the ballistics gel. I dont know if its better for the wad to hold the pellets together longer or if its better for the wad to seperate as soon as possible. Ive heard so much about how each one is better than the other, but it makes since to me that it would be better for the wad to hold the shot tight as long as possible, unless your target is very close.

I saw the same show. The distance theytested it was only 15 yds. I checked Federal's site the other day and they still didn't have any specific details, i.e. FPS,etc

I was able to get a hold of box of 3" 2 shot for about $17 a box, I saw it at Cabelas for about $25 a box. I went out and patterned it and was really impressed at 40 yards nothing could have gotten through that pattern. I should have pictures here pretty soon that I will post up.

I had a briley goose choke in my Browning Gold Hunter, my buddy was using a SBEII with the factory crio tube.
