Duck boats

Do alot of people hunt ducks from boats? If you do what kind of boat is it? How big is it and the motor? Im looking at some Wareagle 17' jon boats but i dont plan on gettting one for a year or 2, i have to get the money first. Any input on the subject is welcom. Thanks, Redneck.

P.S. I am also going to fish in it during the off-season.

RE: Duck boats

back when i didn't have a place to duck hunt i used to wait for the pounds to freeze over and head out to the lake.
Used my Bass Boat.
it worked good put decoys out on a point with the trolling motor and cruized to end of the cove and parked it.
Then walked out to the point and sat and shot. when i got a limmit i went back to the boat and used the trolling motor to pick up ducks and decoys.
It is a almost religous experence going down the lake at 75 Mph when the temp is below 30
ware a full faced motorcycle helment

Just picked mine up a few weeks ago. It's 18' long and 60" wide at the bottom. I put a 60 HP 4 Stroke and it's plenty. Here's a picture of it. There's quite a bit of work left to do before the season starts, but it's a good start.

I use to have a 18' ft War Eagle With a 50 horse mercury and avery pop up blind. we hunted rivers and wildlife management areas with it and did very well we even hunted alot with it at kentucky lake in it until we got a blind built just a lot of work getting there early enough to set decoys to hunt then pickin them up. But They allow you alot of mobility

I ordered a 18.5' welded alum. from Duck water boats with a 4 stroke 115 suz on the back.......it'll be here in a couple of weeks. Ordering the thing was like going to burger king.............they'll put whatever you want in it wherever you want it. I got tired of watching all of my buddies modifying their boats every year & didn't want to go through that.

I hunt primarily in the St Lawrence River. There are three primary bodies of water on the river which have excellent concentrations of waterfowl. They are large enough to substantiate a boat of this size. If I'm going to be hunting smaller areas, I also have a canoe I can use to get in and out; but 80% of my hunting is done on the boat.

Shelves and blind frame are almost ready.

I love Hunting in the boat...you can get away from people and if your fields gets too muddy...you can go to the river!!!Honkers41...
